ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) – You can get your steps in for a good cause this weekend in Ithaca.
The annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraiser is set for tomorrow morning at Ithaca College. The Alzheimer’s Association invites residents of Tompkins and Cortland Counties to join the fight and honor those whose lives have been affected by the disease.
With a goal of $50,000, the money raised goes to research and advocacy efforts, and to ensure services offered by the Alzheimer’s Association remain free to people who need them.
“This is a pivotal moment in the fight against Alzheimer’s,” said VP of Development for the Central New York Alzheimer’s Association, Christine Corbett. “We hope that everyone in the community can join us to help the Alzheimer’s Association raise awareness and funds for families facing the disease today, take more steps toward treatments, and finally end this disease.”
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, nearly 7 million Americans are living with the disease, including 426,500 New Yorkers.
Registration opens at 9 a.m. on Saturday. You can also pre-register here. The opening ceremony and walk begin at 10.
