LANSING, NY (607NewsNow) – The Village of Lansing will become more walkable.

On December 23, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that $572,139 is headed to the village for the Uptown and Craft Roads Sidewalk Connectivity Project.

The project will see the construction of nearly 3,400 linear feet of sidewalk to help link the neighborhoods on either side of Route 13 along the North Triphammer Road corridor. It will connect two apartment complexes, two public bus stops, the Triphammer Marketplace, three municipal parks, the Lansing trails neighborhood, and several health and medical care facilities.

Officials say it could help reduce vehicle traffic and gas emissions in the area. The funding comes from the NYS DEC’s Climate Smart Communities program through the Regional Economic Development Council Initiative.
