ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – A cheese product recall is being reclassified.
On October 3, Great Lakes Cheese Company recalled a variety of its shredded cheese because it may contain metal fragments.
On December 1, the FDA reclassified the recall to a Class II action, which is defined as a situation where exposure could cause temporary or medically reversible health consequences.
The products were sold under multiple brand names in 31 states, including New York. Among the affected brands are Target’s Good & Gather, Walmart’s Great Value, and Aldi’s Happy Farms.
Recalled varieties include low-moisture part-skim mozzarella, Italian-style blend, pizza-style blend, mozzarella and provolone blend, and mozzarella and parmesan blend.
