ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Local teens have an opportunity to improve the community.

The United Way of Tompkins County’s (UWTC) 2025 Youth and Philanthropy Grant Cycle is open.

Area students in grades 10 through 12 will ultimately distribute $25,000 to local nonprofits for projects that focus on community health and/or resiliency, youth opportunity, and financial security.

Last year, a cohort of 13 students from Dryden, Ithaca, and Lehman Alternative awarded funding to 11 groups, including Foodnet Meals on Wheels, the Advocacy Center, and the Ithaca Health Alliance.

The application process, which opened on September 29, closes at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, October 30.
