TRUMANSBURG, NY (607NewsNow) — UPDATE: Swimming at Taughannock has reopened as of July 15th, 2026.

According to a July 14th Facebook post from Taughannock Falls State Park, swimming is currently closed.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation defines harmful algal blooms as “visible patches of cyanobacteria, also called blue-green algae.” These blooms can pose health risks to humans and animals through inhalation, skin contact, and ingestion.
