CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) — Sirgany Eyecare, located at 992 State Route 13 in Cortland, NY, is a testament to the importance of taking time and consideration with patients.

Dr. Brian Sirgany started practicing optometry in 2001, and bought Homer Eyecare in 2007 and made it into his own. It wasn’t long until Sirgany Eyecare expanded, hence the decision to move the business to Cortland in 2011.

What sets Sirgany Eyecare apart is their commitment to “professional, progressive, and personal” care, as their slogan says. “We’ve had people say to us ‘I’ve never had anybody give me as much attention as you guys’, which is really what we’re here for,” says Brian Sirgany of their business philosophy.

“Embracing technology and educating our staff to find ways to best treat our patients is something we always strive for,” Sirgany remarks. Not only do they pride themselves on personal care, but they also scope out innovative solutions that can help to treat various problems.

The Gentle Vision Shaping System (GVSS) is among one of these treatments. A non-invasive procedure, GVSS uses molds to reshape a patient’s corneas at night and essentially acts as a retainer after the cornea is reshaped. Most commonly, it helps to reduce the worsening of near-sightedness.

Neurolenses are another treatment offered at Sirgany Eyecare, helping to correct eye misalignment and reduce symptoms such as headaches, eye strain, and more.

Prokera are corneal bandages that are made from amniotic membrane which can be used to heal corneas and return them to their natural state, as well as aid in relief of other symptons of ocular surface disease.

Avulux lenses are offered as a way to combat migraines and reduce symptoms of light sensitivity. To do this, they filter out blue, amber, and red light, letting in green as a way to sooth the patient’s eyes.

In addition to offering advanced treatments, Sirgany Eyecare also has their own line of eyewear called Route 13. Inspired by Cortland and wanting to create a connection to the community, the frames references various parts of the Crown City itself. One of the frames is called “The Dio”, in honor of Ronnie James Dio who took over as lead man in Black Sabbath and grew up in Cortland.

“We’ve had people pick up frames and see the name and be excited that it references something they know in the community, which is cool to be able to do,” Sirgany says about the eyewear line. “Ten percent of the profits made from the eyewear line go back into the community as well,” he says.
