Schuyler County K9 officer to receive body armor


WATKINS GLEN, NY (CortacaToday) – A member of the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office is getting a safety upgrade.

Vested Interest in K9s will donate a free bullet and stab protective vest for K9 Officer Elza. Elza’s vest will be embroidered with the message “In memory of K9 Lexy, NYSP – EOW 9/6/24/” The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office says the body armor will be delivered by the end of the year.

In August, K9 officers Rhett and Dex of the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office were also gifted protective wear from Vested Interest in K9s Inc., a non-profit that’s outfitted nearly 5800 police dogs with protective wear since 2009, a value of $6.9 million.
