RICHFORD, NY (607NewsNow) — A Tioga County town is considering a temporary ban on solar energy systems.

Lawmakers in Richford are looking at a potential moratorium, which would affect the development and construction of solar energy systems. A public hearing will take place on Oct. 14 at 7:05 p.m. at Richford Town Hall.

Elsewhere in the region, lawmakers in Cortlandville are also considering a moratorium on approving new solar energy permits. The proposed ban in Cortlandville would last up to six months.
