Retired Elmira cop starts work as school resource officer

ELMIRA, NY (607NewsNow) — A retired Southern Tier cop is back to work.

Chemung County Sheriff Bill Schrom says Brian Williams is working as a school resource officer at Broadway Elementary School in Elmira.

Williams “brings a wealth of experience and training to our program,” Schrom wrote on Facebook. “We are confident that SPO [Special Police Officer] Williams will be an asset to the agency, the school, and more importantly to the students and we wish him success in his new position.

Williams retired from the Elmira Police Department on Friday, Jan. 2 after over 22 years of service.
