Renzi donates $1 million for Guthrie health campus in Cortland

CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) – Health options in Cortland are expanding thanks in part to a familiar benefactor.

Nicholas Renzi has given $1 million in support of the Guthrie Cortland Renzi Health Campus, which is currently under construction and set to open in several weeks on West Road in Cortland.

Renzi’s donation will be matched with an additional $1 million in donations through the Cortland Memorial Foundation.

“We’re not sure anyone can match Nick Renzi’s generosity, but we are confident this incredible community will step up to match this pledge,” said Cortland Memorial Foundation Director Sheila Ossit. “We are a compassionate community that never misses a chance to do right by our family, friends, and neighbors. Together, I am confident we will not just meet but exceed this challenge because every dollar donated translates to exceptional health care for our loved ones.”

The 32,000 square foot building will house lab and imaging services, primary care, and specialists.

“Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for Nick Renzi,” said President and CEO of the Guthrie Clinic, Dr. Edmund Sabanegh. “A donation of this magnitude, in our region, stretches extremely far. We are proud to have Mr. Renzi’s name next to ours, so that members of this community will understand what he and his late wife have done to help us meet their health care needs.”

In 2021, Renzi also donated $1 million to Guthrie to help establish the Renzi Cancer Center in honor of his wife, Agnes.
