Post-Halloween ‘pumpkin smash’ event coming to Tioga County

CANDOR, NY (CortacaToday) — Instead of tossing pumpkins into the trash, Tioga County officials want you to smash them.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga County is participating in the first pumpkin smash event next month. Organizers say it’s an effort to keep pumpkins out of landfills after Halloween. Residents can drop off their old pumpkins – with all candles and decorations removed – at Community Hilltop Farm in Candor on November 9th from 11 to two o’clock.

The event is free.
