ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Two Tompkins County men await their day in court.

On August 26, officers working a G.I.V.E. (Gun Involved Violence Elimination) detail say they observed what appeared to be a drug transaction around 7:20 p.m. in Ithaca.

At approximately 7:20 p.m., a vehicle pulled into the 200 block of Conifer Circle, where the driver allegedly conducted a hand-to-hand transaction with another individual. After a stop and subsequent search, police say they recovered about 7 grams of cocaine, 38 grams of meth, and a large amount of cash.

Heath Phillips, 34, of Freeville, is charged with two counts of felony criminal sale of a controlled substance.

William Ellison, 42, of Ithaca, is charged with two counts of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor resisting arrest.

Both men were remanded to Tompkins County Jail without bail.

It’s the second arrest in less than a week through the grant-funded G.I.V.E. initiative, which targets repeat firearm-related offenders and geographical areas of statistically higher gun violence.
