NLRB: Starbucks must reopen Ithaca locations

ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) – The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has again ruled that Ithaca Starbucks locations were closed for ‘anti-union’ reasons.

According to the Cornell Daily Sun, the NLRB ruled on Friday, September 13, 2024, that the Meadow Street and Seneca Street locations must be reopened ‘within a reasonable period of time,’ after finding their closures violated the National Labor Relations Act.

Both stores shut down in May last year following the June 2022 closure of the popular College Avenue location in Cornell’s Collegetown. A similar NLRB ruling over a year ago ordered Starbucks to reopen ‘immediately’ the College Ave. location, which remains closed.

All three locations voted to unionize in April 2022.
