Nearly $67K in state money going to 8 local libraries


GROTON, NY (CortacaToday) — Cash is coming for some local libraries.

Assemblymember Anna Kelles says $66,900 is going to the Finger Lakes Library System. The money, which was included in the state budget, is being split among eight libraries in Tompkins and Cortland counties:

  • Cortland Free Library: $10,800 (update collection and e-content)
  • Newfield Public Library: $4,000 (Security cameras)
  • Groton Public Library: $18,000 (Increased food programing)
  • Ulysses Philomathic Library: $15,000 (accessible furnishings)
  • Lamont Memorial Free Library, McGraw: $3,000 (expand programs in the library)
  • Lansing Community Library, Lansing: $2,600 (teen programing)
  • Tompkins County Public Library, Ithaca: $8,000 (staff professional development)
  • Southworth Library Association: $5,500 (continue existing programing)

Kelles will formally announce the funding on Thursday, September 19 at the Groton Public Library.
