Marathon names field after soccer coach

MARATHON, NY (CortacaToday) — A longtime coach in Cortland County is receiving recognition.

On Saturday, Marathon named its high school soccer field Stewart Field in honor of former coach Chip Stewart. The Cortland Standard reports he compiled over 450 wins for the Marathon boys soccer team.

Stewart coached from 1988 to 2021.

In related news, the Village of Marathon is hoping to receive funding to renovate buildings.
