LOCKE, NY (607NewsNow) – A Cayuga County man awaits his day in court.

On October 2, deputies responded to a home in the Town of Locke for a reported domestic violence incident.

When police arrived, they arranged for one of the people involved to speak with a victims’ advocate. While this was happening, 49-year-old Thomas Purdy allegedly pointed a knife towards a deputy and an assisting State Trooper in a threatening manner.

Purdy complied with law enforcement demands and was taken into custody without incident. He is charged with menacing a police officer and criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies.

Purdy was held in Cayuga County Jail on $2,500 cash bail.

Anyone with information relevant to the investigation is asked to contact the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office at (315) 253-1222 or submit a tip online.
