CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office is getting a boost from a local nonprofit group.

On December 5, the sheriff’s office received nearly $1,500 in support of its K9 program.

The donation comes from the Watchdog Chapter of the motorcycle club Hades Hounds, who presented the check to Sheriff Mark Helms, Undersheriff Chad Burhans, and the K9 Unit on Friday.

The money will be used to support program operations and K9 Officers Dex and Rhett.

In August 2024, Vested Interest in K9s Incorporated, a New Jersey-based nonprofit, donated bullet and stab protective vests to Dex and Rhett. Vested Interest has provided nearly $7 million in dog vests since 2009.
