Lapeer man accused of inappropriate contact with barn animals

LAPEER, NY (607NewsNow) – A Cortland County man is facing multiple charges.

On May 4, deputies responded to a farm in the Town of Lapeer to investigate a reported suspicious person just after 10 a.m.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, 66-year-old Walter Carman entered a barn on the property and had “inappropriate contact with animals on multiple occasions.”

The following night, Carman was arrested and charged with felony burglary, misdemeanor sexual misconduct, and misdemeanor animal cruelty. Carman is scheduled to appear in Lapeer Town Court on May 14 at 5:30 p.m.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
