LANSING, NY (607NewsNow) – A moratorium on large scale development will not move forward in Lansing.

On November 19, after several months of public debate, the Town Board voted 4-0 on a resolution to withdraw the proposed 1-year moratorium.

Board member Laurie Hemmings was not present, and there was no discussion prior to voting. The vote happened at the top of the meeting but still drew over 30 minutes of public comment from advocates and critics, and featured some members of Terawulf, who signed an 80-year lease to build a data center at the former Milliken Station/AES Cayuga facility.

Town board members maintain the moratorium was proposed to address outdated zoning regulations. Terawulf CEO Paul Prager joined WHCU’s Joe Salzone for an interview on Ithaca’s Morning News on November 13.
