ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Ithaca is green lighting a homeless hub.

Following the Tompkins County Legislature’s vote Tuesday to move forward on a collaborative shelter with the city, the Common Council agreed last night. Mayor Robert Cantelmo summarized the resolution before calling for a vote.

The motion, which was seconded by Alderperson Kayla Matos, was unanimously approved without discussion. Under the deal, property at 100 Commercial Ave. in Ithaca, which is owned by Maguire, will be leased to serve as the Code Blue emergency shelter operated by the county at night during winter and as a homeless services navigation hub during the daytime operated by city staff.
