ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The Ithaca Children’s Garden has appointed a new leader.

Leigh MacDonald was named by the ICG board of directors to serve as interim executive director, following the recent departure of Naomi Sukenik. Sukenik was appointed at the end of 2024.

“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Naomi for her contributions to and care for the Garden,” ICG Board of Directors President Liz Kinast said. “I couldn’t be more pleased to have Leigh serve as Interim Executive Director. Her experience and deep history with ICG make her the perfect person to steward the Garden through this transition.”

MacDonald’s relationship with ICG began over 20 years ago as a program assistant. She eventually became education director before stepping away from the organization in 2021.

“Ithaca Children’s Garden is such a special place for so many, including myself,” MacDonald said. “I’ve had the privilege of working with the Garden in many capacities and look forward to supporting the talented and dedicated staff through this transition.”
