ICSD superintendent ‘hopeful’ for new teachers’ contract

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — A new contract for Ithaca teachers is a work in progress. 

Dr. Luvelle Brown is superintendent of the Ithaca City School District. Tuesday, Oct. 14 on Ithaca’s Morning News, Brown expressed optimism for a new deal.

Negotiations between ICSD and the Ithaca Teachers Association began anew on Oct. 9 after pausing before the summer break. Teachers are currently working under terms of the previous 6-year contract, which expired in June. Brown tells 607 News Now the district now finds itself on better fiscal footing.

ICSD and ITA representatives will hold their next bargaining session on Thursday, Oct. 16.
