Elderly tenant rescued in Owego apartment fire

OWEGO, NY (CortacaToday) – No injuries after a close call in Owego.

Around 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, the Campville Fire Department responded to a residence on Hickories Park Road for a report of a stove fire. Arriving units found a smoke-filled building with near-zero visibility and called out for anyone inside. An elderly man was located and quickly escorted to safety.

Firefighters extinguished a blaze in the oven drawer, which appears to have been started by oven mitts. The apartment was saved from extensive damage.
