DRYDEN, NY (607NewsNow) — Data centers are banned in Dryden.

The town board agreed to change the zoning code, which adds definitions of data centers and crypto currency data mines. The resolution permanently bars the development of data centers and crypto currency facilities.

Thursday’s unanimous vote follows an 18-month moratorium on data centers, which gave officials more time for research. It was extended temporarily in January.

Dryden Town Supervisor Jason Leifer previously told 607 News Now support for the ban has been “overwhelming.”
