Dryden High School student arrested for setting fire in bathroom

DRYDEN, NY (607NewsNow) — A Dryden student is charged with arson.

State Police say the 17-year-old was arrested Wednesday, March 25 for setting a fire Jan. 7 in a bathroom at Dryden High School.

“An investigation determined that the juvenile was responsible for starting a fire in a trash bin located inside a school bathroom, resulting in property damage. During the incident, students were safely evacuated and transported to Tompkins Community College,” troopers said.

No injuries were reported. The charge against the unnamed student is a misdemeanor.

In a statement to 607 News Now, Superintendent Josh Bacigalupi said, “The District continues to support and cooperate with the ongoing investigation.”
