Cortlandville business seeks mining approval

CORTLANDVILLE, NY (607NewsNow) — A local business wants to dig deeper.

Cortlandville Sand and Gravel is seeking approval to mine below the underground water table. According to application documents, the property on Route 13 has been dedicated to mining since 1987.

Mining below the water table requires a use variance from the Cortlandville Zoning Board of Appeals. The group will hold a public hearing tonight at 5 p.m. at Cortlandville Town Hall.
