Cortland PD: charge coming in doorbell camera incident


CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) – Authorities in Cortland are pursuing an arrest related to a doorbell camera incident in the city.

According to Cortland Police, Steven Knight deliberately damaged a ring camera on Reynolds Avenue around 1:36 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Footage confirms Knight used a knife but made no threats, and police say he has no connection to the occupants.

However, Knight was taken for evaluation, the knife was confiscated, and an order of protection is being sought for the victims.

Cortland PD says the incident appears to be isolated, and an arrest warrant for criminal mischief related to the camera damage is coming.
