Cortland County man charged with public lewdness in Ithaca


ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) – A Cortland County man faces charges in Ithaca for inappropriate sexual conduct.

Joshua Compton, of Marathon, is accused of openly exposing himself and engaging in lewd conduct in public. Police say it happened around 1 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024, in the 100 block of Dryden Road. Compton was allegedly sitting in the front seat of his car in front of a restaurant, in full view of pedestrians.

Ithaca Police say they observed him viewing pornographic material on his phone when they arrived at the scene. Compton is charged with public display of offensive sexual material, and public lewdness, both misdemeanors.

Compton is scheduled to appear in Ithaca City Court at a later date.
