Chemung County inmate had drugs in jail, deputies say

ELMIRA, NY (607NewsNow) — More legal trouble for a Chemung County inmate.

Deputies say Anthony Williams was found with an unknown substance on Oct. 8 during a search in the county jail. Testing by the Chemung County criminal investigation division has confirmed the substance is fentanyl, and the 30-year-old is charged with felony promoting prison contraband and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.

Williams remains locked up on unrelated charges.
