Binghamton crews rescue squirrel from dumpster hole

BINGHAMTON, NY (607NewsNow) — An animal is no longer in distress in Broome County.

On Dec. 24, Binghamton firefighters said they found a squirrel with its head stuck in a small hole on the side of a dumpster. Crews were able to safely free the squirrel using “patience, care, and a very gentle touch.”

Firefighters called the situation a “unique rescue.” They said the squirrel seemed unharmed once it was freed.
