Freeville man charged in Homer homicide

HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) – A suspect in a Cortland County killing is in custody.

On November 7, deputies arrested 20-year-old Aaron Keem, of Freeville, and charged him with second degree murder in the death investigation of Anthony Beecham, of Homer.

Keem is accused of being involved in the shooting of Beecham at a residence in the Village of Homer on October 8, 2025. Police were called to the area for a report of someone possibly in cardiac arrest. Officers located Beecham in the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds. Life saving measures were performed on Beecham, who was transported to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Keem is in Cortland County Jail without bail.

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact them at (607) 758-5599 or submit a tip online.

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Village of Homer Police Department, New York State Police, Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, TLC, and the Cortland County Coroner’s Office.
