Alonso breaks Mets’ home run record; Yanks beat Twins

The Mets have a new home run king. On Tuesday, Pete Alonso set the franchise record with his 253rd round-tripper. The crown was previously held by Darryl Strawberry. Alonso’s record-breaking homer came during a 13-5 win over the Braves. The teams play again tonight at 7:10 p.m. in Queens.

Back-to-back wins for the Yankees. They outscored the Twins 9-1 on Tuesday. Giancarlo Stanton led the way with four hits, including a home run. The Yanks entertain the Twins again tonight at 7:05 p.m.

The Syracuse Mets beat Rochester 2-1 on Tuesday. A rematch takes place today at 1:05 p.m. in Rochester.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies defeated New Hampshire 5-3 on Tuesday. The teams play again tonight at 6:07 p.m. in Binghamton.

Jets Head Coach Aaron Glenn is praising an opposing player. During a press conference on Tuesday, he said Giants rookie linebacker Abdul Carter is a “grown man.” The Jets and Giants take part in a joint practice today at 10 a.m.
