Travel advisory in Tompkins County after winds knock down trees, power lines

ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Officials say to use caution when driving through Tompkins County.

A Travel Advisory has been issued through the Tompkins SIREN Alert system saying numerous trees and power lines are down throughout the county, including on McLallen and Washington Streets in Trumansburg.

As of 2 p.m., NYSEG crews are on-scene in the 200 block of Warren Road near Moakley house for an electrical pole that’s leaning toward the roadway. Cornell Police are blocking traffic at the intersection of Warren Road and Forest Home Drive, and Warren Road and Hanshaw Road until further notice. Seek alternate routes.

As of 3:30 p.m., NYSEG is showing more than 5,600 homes are without power in the county, many in Newfield and Danby.

Additionally, a flood watch remains in effect through tomorrow night.
