DRYDEN, N.Y. (WHCU) -TC3 is receiving funding to help students through the Office of Workforce Development.

The college has been awarded $116,000 to support students in unpaid or low-paid internships over the next three years. The money can be used for tuition, costs associated with the internship, or to offset general living costs.

“Internships and applied learning opportunities are integral to student career exploration and finding meaningful employment in fields of interest,” said TC3 Assistant Director for Employer Relations and Experiential Learning Dara Riegel. “The SUNY Internship Program allows Tompkins Cortland Community College to offer vital financial support to students engaging in unpaid and low-paid internship opportunities through academic program requirements. It will also encourage students in all majors to apply for internships they may not have previously considered due to financial constraints.”

SUNY Cortland received a $280,000 grant to fund similar initiatives earlier this month.
