ITHACA, NY (WHCU) – Nearly two months of work on a portion of East Seneca Street begins today in Ithaca.

A water main replacement project starts at 8 a.m. in the 500 block of East Seneca Street near the Stewart Avenue intersection.  It will continue down part of East Seneca over the next seven weeks. The Stewart Ave and East Seneca intersection will be closed through the 18th, as will the 100 and 200 blocks of Stewart Avenue heading toward the work zone.

After the work progresses away from the intersection, the 500 block of East Seneca will remain closed through the end of the project. City officials say the project should wrap up at the end of the day on July 31.
