ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – TCAT has released a statement about Friday afternoon’s crash involving one of their buses on Hook Place.
TCAT’s operation and safety officials today are investigating an accident involving a TCAT Route 14 bus that veered off the road and crashed into a house on Hook Place Friday afternoon.
No injuries were reported among the driver, the five riders on the bus, nor the person occupying the house at the time. The accident occurred at around 12:20 p.m. after the driver reportedly lost control of the bus after attempting to turn onto Hook Place from Haller Boulevard.
Both the 2011 Gillig 40-foot bus and the home sustained damages. No other details are available as the accident remains under investigation.

Ithaca Police say the TCAT bus driver lost control of the vehicle when turning onto Hook Place from Haller Boulevard, striking some property on the north side of Hook before veering to the other side and hitting trees and a house. Police say the homeowner, driver, and passengers suffered minor injuries but nothing serious enough for treatment at medical facilities.
The house suffered significant damage, which has been assessed by the city’s Building Department.
No charges have been filed.
