The Town of Lansing is facing similar troubles with one of their water tanks as the Town of Ulysses; it contains elevated levels of carcinogens.
The Lansing Star Online reports the Town’s Emmons Road water tank had the cancer-causing agents above acceptable state levels.
Supervisor Kathy Miller says engineers are recommending the Town install an aerator in the tank to keep constant water flow, which in turn would eliminate much of the carcinogens.
She estimates it could cost up to 100-thousand dollars to fix the problem.
