ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Ithaca’s Salvation Army has kicked off their annual Red Kettle campaign, where they hope to raise 86 thousand dollars to fund programs in 2021.

Captain Stacy McNeil says they’ve only raised a small fraction of that goal — about eight thousand dollars.

They have a big need for volunteers to ring bells, and becoming one is easy.

“All they have to do, says McNeil, “is call our office at 607-273-2400…”

All volunteers must wear face masks and, if they choose, gloves. The bells will ring through the end of December.
