CORTLAND, NY (WHCU) –Ithaca and Cortland are getting more money from Albany.

Senator Lea Webb and Assemblymember Anna Kelles say the Crown City will receive over two-point-two million dollars while Ithaca nets more than three million dollars in Aid and Incentives to Municipalities funding. Both are a nearly 12 percent increase from the previous state budget for the two cities.

Webb calls the increases ‘long overdue’ while Kelles says the funding ‘plays a crucial role’ in public services.

The funding is unrestricted, meaning it can be used for whatever is needed by the cities.
