ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Ithaca Carshare is on the cusp of returning.

The transportation service says its fleet is once again covered by auto insurance. They’ll begin registering cars today and anticipate many being back on the road next week. The group was forced to shut down for the better part of 2023 due to a legal loophole that left their vehicles uninsured.

A bill that was spearheaded by Assemblymember Anna Kelles and State Senator Lea Webb ultimately passed but sat in limbo for some time before being signed by Governor Hochul.
