ITHACA, NY (WHCU) – The tumultuous relationship between graduating pro-Palestine demonstrators and the Cornell administration has come to an end, but not without a parting shot.

The Coalition for Mutual Liberation interrupted President Martha Pollack’s final commencement speeches on Saturday at Schoellkopf Field. The Cornell Daily Sun reports some members wore caps decorated with the Palestinian flag, turned their backs to the stage, and held up banners with messages including “divest from genocide,” and “Cornell profits from genocide.”

It was the end of a long period of disputes between the group and Cornell administration over the ongoing war in Gaza that saw multiple suspensions of students and a month-long encampment on the arts quad.

Cornell now turns to preparations for transition, as Pollack is set to retire on June 30.
