Founder of Cortland’s McNeil Development Co. dies at 101

CORTLAND, NY (WHCU) — A longtime property developer in Cortland has died. 

The Cortland Standard reports Dan McNeil, Junior passed away Thursday after a brief illness. McNeil, who founded the McNeil Development Company, was 101.

His son David tells the paper part of his dad’s longevity was staying engaged and staying away from anything negative. McNeil’s 100th birthday was celebrated in Cortland with city officials last year.

Calling hours are being held today from three to seven at Saint Margaret’s Catholic Church in Homer.
