CORTLAND, NY (WHCU) – A Cortland woman is recovering from severe wounds after an alleged dog attack.

Police arrived at an apartment on Main Street Sunday night to find a 42-year-old woman being bitten by three dogs.  The woman suffered wounds to her head, chest, shoulders, and arms that needed tourniquets and clotting bandages. It is unclear if the dogs belonged to the woman.

Cortland PD says the dogs did not respond to pepper spray and the most aggressive of the three was shot and later died. The other two dogs are in quarantine with Country Acres in Homer.

The woman is listed in critical but stable condition after multiple surgeries.
