Cortland woman charged in fraud investigation

CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) – A Cortland woman is facing multiple felonies after a fraud investigation.

30-year-old Crissy Green is accused of giving inaccurate information to the Cortland County Department of Social Services concerning the makeup of her household. Authorities say she received more than $2,000 in benefits she was not entitled to. Green was arrested Thursday and is charged with grand larceny, welfare fraud, and two counts of offering a false instrument for filing.

Green will appear in Cortland City Court on October 16.
