Cortland man charged with rape, endangering the welfare of a child

CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) – A Cortland man has been charged after a lengthy rape investigation.

Authorities say 24-year-old Jordan Smith had sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 16 at an address on Clinton Avenue in September 2022. Additionally, the female was allegedly under the influence of a drug at the time.

Cortland Police arrested Smith on Friday, May 5, 2023, and charged him with two counts of felony rape and a misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child. Smith was remanded to Cortland County Jail. Cortland Police say Smith’s next court appearance is undetermined at this time.
