Brooktondale resident loses Mercedez-Benz in car fire

Fire crews from three different fire departments put out a vehicle fire in Brooktondale Wednesday morning.

A woman living at her home on Slaterville Road called 911 at 8:30 a.m. after her Mercedez-Benz caught on fire in her driveway.

Members of the Ithaca, Brooktondale and Slaterville fire departments worked to douse the flames.

“The burning car was close to another vehicle and the owner’s home, but other than a few melted lights on the second vehicle, firefighters kept the damage to just the Mercedes, which was a total loss,” Ithaca Fire Lt. Tom Basher said in a statement.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Brooktandale Fire Department.
